Tip # 96
(database) DATABASE BATCH UPDATES
From the main menu, select the "Database" menu, or you can click on the "Database" ICON on the button bar. Then choose "Database Batch Tagged Functions".
This function allows you to BATCH MODIFY the database. You can take all tagged files and change its CATEGORY, or KEYWORDS or NOTES, etc... Just click on the appropriate GREEN check mark.
NOTE: You can also APPEND text to the current records for Keywords or Notes.
If you just want to edit a single record, use the Database Avanced Record Editor/Searching window.
HINT: The Keywords and Notes fields are special. They each have an additional GREEN check mark with a +(plus) on it. This is the APPEND button. Let's say you wanted to add a keyword "Beach" to all of the tagged records. Just click the APPEND button. It takes the current record data and appends the new keyword(s) into the field. Very handy if you are NOT wanting to replace the contents of the field, but instead are wanting to add to the field.
BATCH DELETE:
This button allows you to set the delete flag for each of the tagged entries. This is the same as manually setting the "Deleted Status" option for each tagged record. Of course the records are NOT deleted from the database right away. You have to use the Database Compact/Fix function to do that.
