Tip # 119
(Technical Info) GIF ANIMATED MOVIES

GIF ANIMATION PLAYER

There are many different types of graphic
image formats that Photo Jockey supports. The one format that is unique is the animated GIF file. This is a series of single images jammed together into one GIF file. There are typically delays put in between the images. Otherwise it would play so fast you wouldn't see anything worthwhile. So, with a series of images being played with certain delays between images, you can get a GIF animation.

NOTE: When you close a GIF Animation, if the file you are currently viewing happens to be the same file as the GIF Animation you are closing, then ALL GIF Animations that match on that filename will close as well.

There are a few buttons on the player that will help you play your animations:

PLAY:
This allows you to play the animation again once it's finished.

ADVANCE:
This tells the player to advance the movie from the current position. Some animations will PAUSE themselves and WAIT for you to indicate that you want to continue. This button tells the animation to continue on.

FAST FORWARD:
This will play the rest of the animation in super fast mode till it reaches the end.

STOP:
This stops the animation at the current image.

SPEED CONTROL SLIDER:
This controls the speed of the animation. Slide to the right to make it go faster. Slide to the left to make it go slower.

TIPS:
Most animations are played from start to finish in a relatively short amount of time. However, there are some that take some time to finish. This is because of LONG delays between images. Also, some animations REQUIRE that the user indicate the desire to continue on with the animation before the next image in the series is shown. If you don't indicate your desire to continue, the current image being displayed in the GIF Animation Player will stay there forever. Use the "ADVANCE" button to indicate your desire to continue.

NOTE:
Multiple Animations:
If you want Multiple animations at once, MOVE the player somewhere else on the screen. Then click on another animation, then a NEW player will pop-up. If you do NOT move the player, then as you click on different gif animation files, the current player will close and then a new player will open.

Exiting Player:
You can exit the player by clicking on the standard "X" close button, OR you can use your mouse wheel, OR you can use your arrow keys.
