Tip # 116
(Technical Info) PCD PHOTOS FROM PHOTO CDs

A few years ago Kodak produced Photo CDs. In fact, they may still do this. When you sent in a roll of film they would send you back a CD that had all your photos on it. This Photo CD contained a series of files with an extension of *.PCD.

The PCD files actually contain 3 separate images in them. They contain the following resolutions:

  • 512x768
  • 1024x1536
  • 2048x3072

  • You can bring up the
Tools Menu by RIGHT-CLICKing on the photo. If it's a PCD photo, you will see "PCD Images Loading Quality" menu option at the top of the menu. Select it and then you can pick from 3 choices.

  • PCD Images At 512x768
  • PCD Images At 1024x1536
  • PCD Images At 2048x3072

  • The speed depends on the resolution level you pick. The largest resolution takes the longest to load. If you are just interested in what the photo looks like and want a decent picture, just select the 1st choice.
