You can also burn regular files for backup purposes as well. PHOTO QUILTING (MOSAICS): You can take a photo and reproduce it so that it's comprised of a series of mosaic thumbnails. These thumbnails are all from a single folder that you choose to use. SEARCHNG FOR DUPLICATES: You can search by image appearance too. You can search any drive(s), or a specific folder. When searching for image appearance, you can specify how close in appearance the images must be to be considered duplicates. You can specifiy that color images can match black & white photos if they seem to be the same photo. You can exclude specified folders from the search. You can find dups even if they are rotated/mirrored or flipped from each other. You can also find duplicate images that are COPIES of each other. So, if you re-download photos from your camera and forgot that you already had them on your system, this feature will find them all and allow you to easily clean them off your system. DATABASE INTEGRATION: Each file can have a Category, keywords, notes and more stored in a database. You can search for files that match on various field values. These can be integrated into the web-page creation so that your notes can appear for each image in the web-page. Minor memory leaks 2. Fix to the Monitor program so that you won't get a disk error if you don't have a floppy drive in your system Also, FAST systems would cause the Photo Jockey Monitor to get an "Access Violation". This is now fixed no matter how fast your processor is. 09/02/08 Version 4.04 1. MAJOR improvements 2. VISTA compatible 3. Short-Cuts support 4. Scanner support 5. Multiple editing adjustments with ONE apply. For example: You could increase the brightness of a cloudy sky, then reduce the contrast in ONE operation. That way you don't have clouds that have burned out (solid white) areas. You get to keep the detail. 6. Better Folder TreeView panel that shows ALL of your drives instead of the current drive. You can also DRAG & DROP to & from the folder tree view. Which means you can copy or move files around on your system WITHOUT having to open up an Explorer File Manager window. 7. Contact sheets can how be reordered, via drag & drop, so that they appear in the order that you want them. You can also put custom text comments at the bottom of each thumbnail in the contact sheet. 8. The Image/TextBox overlay function now allows you to use a selectable database entry to be used as the text for the overlay. Very powerful when used in BATCH mode. IE: You can create a series of annoted images with DISTINCT captions. 9. Many little bug fixes 10.Image editing cloning feature vastly improved to handle transparency 11.Image/TextBox overlay has improved transparency. 12.Better auto-color balance logic 13.Better enlarging and printing logic. When printing the image is automatically enlarged to fill the entire logical printing area INSTEAD of allowing the printer driver to do the enlarging. This produces smoother and sharper printed images, because most, if not all, printer drivers do a poor job of up-scaling. Granted, if you have LARGE images printing on small paper, you won't see a difference unless you look very close or use a magnifying glass, but for larger prints or for small images, you will see a dramatic difference. 14.Movies now play in slide show mode, instead of being skipped. 15.More RAW images support. You can even do simple Contrast, Brighness, Gamma, Noise Reduction VERY FAST while in the Raw Image Adjusting window. No more wasting time to re-load the image after making a single change. 16.Better duplicate image searching support. It now can find COPIES of images/movies, so that if you downloaded duplicates from your camera, then your system gets filled with wasted space by duplicate files. We can now find these and allow a simple procedure for cleaning up your system. 17.Folder preview window allows you to hover over a folder in the Folder Treeview window and then it pops-up a preview window that shows you a sample of the images that are in the folder. It also shows folder statistics 18.Folder panel and File List panel now have FORWARD and BACKWARS buttons. So, just like a web browser, you can bounce back & forth between several of your images or several of your folders for quick access. See, if you are looking at two images that are not next to each other in the files list, then it becomes a chore to keep reselecting the files. The Forwards/Backwards buttons make this a single click operation. 19.The Folder TreeView window allows you to drop a file(s) anywhere in that window. And as you hover over a folder name, it will EXPAND it so that you can see any subfolders that may exist. Very handy and very similar to the way the Explorer File Manager works. 20.Preview windows can now do Drag & Drop too. 21.Enhanced the SlideShow CD-ROM burning function to store the thumbnails for the images and or movies burned on the CD. This allows Photo Jockey to load the thumbnails strip much faster. 22.Added a file monitor system. It runs in your system tray and monitors file or folder renames and moves and copies that are performed outside of Photo Jockey. That way, the PJ database can update any filenames that were renamed AND were in the database. This keeps database consistency. It also updates thumbnail cache favorites list, recently used list and other components that should be updated. If they DONT get updated, then you won't "hurt" anything, but you will be less efficient because those file will have to rebuild their thumbnail image and the Recently used list won't work for entries that have been renamed. 06/22/07 Version 3.03 1.Several minor bug fixes 2.Minor feature improvements 06/22/06 Version 3.02 Improvements: 1. BETTER DUPLICATE IMAGES SEARCHING: Mirrored folders are now ignored to eliminate the chance oi reporting 2 files as duplicates when in fact the 2 files are actually the SAME FILE being referenced by 2 different aliased paths. 3. BETTER SEQUENTIAL RENAMING: 4. DATABASE orphan resolver: Keeps database in sync even if you rename files/folders from outside of Photo Jockey. 5. DATABASE backup/restore: There is now a new menu item called "Database BACKUP". It keeps up to 3 sets of backups for your database. 6. DATABASE - copy/paste: PASTE is powerful because you won't have to RE-TYPE a bunch of data fields to get data from one record into another! 7. DATABASE verify improved: The VERIFY function was SUPER fast, but did not fully test the integrity of the database. It now fully tests the database and if ANYTHING is wrong, you will know about it and then of course you can do the compact function to fix it. The verify function is now not quite as fast, but is still relativlly quick. 8. DATABASE import improved: The Database IMPORT function now allows you to import records and leave current database fields alone while at the same time importing others. 9. BROWSE MENU: The browse menu now has "Network Folders" as an option, so that you can quickly jump to a folder on your network.10. HOME FOLDER: 10. HOME FOLDER: Home folder now has 2 choices (Load / Set) instead of just Set. 11. COLOR ADJUST: Better Copy/Paste in the color adjusting window. 12. RESIZE: There is a new option called "Only Adjust Dimensions" checkbox. This will NOT resize the image to fit the new dimensions. 13. BATCH Function: There is a new option in the BATCH function to allow you to customize the "_Adjusted" text string that gets appended to files created by the batch process. 14. RECORD VOICE COMMENT: This feature has been enhanced allow for voice clips LONGER than 60 seconds. Bug Fixes: 1. Minor bugs. 03/12/06 Version 3.01 Improvements: 1. New look & feel. Nicer looking controls 2. Database integration. You can have keywords, notes and categories entered for each file. This database can be searched quickly. You can also, import or export. 3. Color Range adjustments. You could take a blue sweater and make it green without it looking un-natural. You can make blue skies bluer, green trees greener etc... Very unique. 4. Shadows/Highlights adjustments. Only shadows get darker or only bright areas get brighter. 5. RAW photos can now have special adjustments per camera model so that you could make FUJI images appear brighter, and Canon images appear a little more red etc... 6. Added a Favorites menu for your favorite folders 7. Added a Home folder so that you can control what folder is loaded by default when Photo Jockey loads. 8. Web-Page creation enhanced to allow database entries to show up in the web pages created. For example: You could have the NOTES field integrated into the web pages. 9. Better Folders list in the upper right corner. Instead of a list of folders, there is now a folder TREE that you can select from. 10.Added ON-HOLD window. You can collect photos from various folders and stick them into the on-hold window for later processing (printing, moving, copying, etc..) 05/05/05 Version 2.65 Improvements: 1. MORE RAW IMAGE SUPPORT: Many more digital camera RAM formats supported in this version. For example: Canon EOS IDs Mark II & FUJI RAW photos that normally appear rotated 45 degrees are now displayed properly. 2. FASTER JPG CONVERT: When you drag & drop from Photo Jockey onto a folder or an email program, there is an option to convert the dragged files into JPG files AND to make them SMALLER. If you are dropping RAW or JPG or PCD images and you are reducing the size of the images by at least 50% then the reduction process is MUCH FASTER now. 3. FASTER WEB PAGE WIZARD COPY: When you create a Web Page from Photo Jockey. You basically copy the images from your folder into a new web gallery folder. You have the choice to reduce the images in size.. If your folder contains RAW or JPG or PCD images and you are reducing the size of the images by at least 50% then the reduction process is MUCH FASTER now. 4. CACHING IMAGES: This allows you to cache images, so when you go back to look at an image you viewed recently, it will appear real fast. This is great when viewing large images that take a long time to load. You can control the cache settings from the "Options" main menu. NOTE: This is especially useful if you are viewing images from a slow drive like a CD-ROM or Network drive. 5. CHECKMARKING FILES: It was annoying that when you checkmarked files it would spend the time to load the image. If you wanted to check a bunch of files, this would be time consuming. So, now when you checkmark files, they become checked but are NOT loaded to view. 6. AUTO SCROLL THUMBNAILS: The auto scrolling is better now. It used to be that image properties were scanned in the background even while the auto-scrolling was taking place. This produce a slower looking scroll. Now the scanning is put on hold until the auto-scroll is done scrolling. Auto scrolling occurs when you select a thumbnail image and it scrolls to the middle of the window. NOTE: Auto scroll is now DISABLED as you checkmark files. This is better for most purposes. So basically, auto scroll only works when you click on the thumbnail (NOT) in the checkbox area. 7. BETTER RAW IMAGE EXIF DATA: The JPG images taken with a digital camera have Exif Camera information inside of them. This contains info like, the camera make, model, date photo taken, ISO, shutter speed etc... The RAW images taken with higher end cameras don't make the Exif information publicly available :( BUT, I've been able to extrract out the Exif info for many of the various RAW formats. And if it's a type that can't be extracted, then I'm at least able to get the make, model and date info. So, now when you move your mouse over a RAW image in the files list or thumbnail list, you should now see the Exif information displayed in the file properties popup that appears. 8. THUMBNAIL CACHING: Just like the file caching makes bouncing back & forth quicker, there is now thumbnail caching. This makes it so that if you change the thumbnail size, then the rebuilding of the thumbnails in the new size will go MUCH FASTER!!!! 9. BETTER TIFF SUPPORT: More TIF files are now viewable than in previous versions. 10. NEW SORT OPTIONS: You can now sort the files list by "CAMERA MAKE/MODEL" 11. SEARCH FOR DUPLICATE IMAGES: You can now find all duplicate images in your system. You specify where you want to search, Photo Jockey does the rest. You can also search for duplicates that LOOK like other images. This is called searching by image appearance. When searching, you can indicate that you only want to find dups of tagged files in the aea being searched. This is useful if you have a main folder where you keep all your photos and periodically you move in new images during your house keeping. It's very useful to know that the images you are moving in are NOT DUPLICATES of what is already in there. 12. New BUTTON BAR that is configurable. It contains a list of all common functions for easy access to these functions. 13. 3D Perspective / Shear / Fish-Eye / Special Effects adjustments. You can correct perspective problems in photos, or add perspective for neat effects. Bug Fixes: 1. Fixed tiff logic to view more tiffs. 05/05/05 Version 2.64 Improvements: 1. CDROM BURNING: You can now use Photo Jockey to BURN CDs. You can burn either a disk of: Current images & movies Any Folder images & movies Any Folder ALL FILES Web Galleries (created with photo jockey) These disks you burn can be made to AUTO-RUN, so that the end user just needs to stick the disk in and poof up comes either Photo Jockey to play the images or movies, or your web browser to show the web galleries. You can burn multiple copies and verifies the burn. You can erase CD-RW disks as well. This function REQUIRES XP/2003 to be installed on your system. You can even burn just selected (checked) files. 2. File Properties Info boxes: These pop-ups appear as you move your mouse over the images in the thumbnails list. They NOW show CAMERA MAKER (in case the camera model is not enough info for you). 3. Novice Hint boxes: These are pop-ups that are yellow boxes with helpful hints that have a close button and optionally a checkbox. They no longer stay ON TOP OF other applications that you may be running. And they no longer stay on the screen even after you minimize photo jockey. 4. Enable/Disable Pop-Ups: You can now disable or enable the various pop-ups. This is because sometimes they might be annoying to the advanced user. There are 4 types: 1. Novice Hint Boxes 2. Slide Show Controls (VCR Buttons) 3. Tool-Tips 4. File Properties Info boxes. You can temporarily disable ALL pop-ups or re-enable with ONE CLICK of the red round button located on the files list panel. In the "VIEW" menu, you can "Configure Pop-Ups Like (Tool-Tips, Novice Hints, File Properties & VCR Buttons)" to individually turn a selected pop-up (on, off, off-always). 5. Printing Function: ADDED THE PRINT function to the common tools tool bar. 6. Auto-Hide main menu: Add the "Enable/Disable Auto-Hide Main Menu" menu option to the main menu's "VIEW" menu. Use this if you don't like the auto-hide feature. 7. Drag/Drop JPGConvert Options: You used to only have 4 jpeg quality options, now there is a "custom quality" option where you can select a quality from 10 thru 90. This allows you to fine-tune the quailty of images being made smaller via the drag/drop. 8. Comments Menu options: There are now IMPORT/EXPORT functions. So you can export all your comments in a folder to a single export file. You can them import it into some database program if you want. Also, there is an IMPORT function that allows you to import your comments if you had maintained your comments for filenames in some other database program. Of course you would have to EXPORT in that other database program first :) 9. Slide Show Controls (VCR Buttons): There is now a minimize/maximize button on the window. The is so that you can control the size of the VCR buttons. 10. Improved Sequential Rename: Enhanced the Sequential renaming feature so you can FORCE the number of digits in the output numbers. For example: If you had 18 files and selected a starting number of "1". Then the numbers would be: 1 2 3 .. 17 18 As you can see, if you sorted by filename, then you would be out of sequence :( Because the "17" starts with a "1". But by forcing digits to 3, then output would be 001 002 003 .. 017 018 So in this case the sequence is kept!!!! 11. Photo Quilting: (Photo Mosaics): You can now take a photo and reproduce it from a mosaic of thumbnails. These thumbnails come from a selected folder of your choice. This is like the famous Lincoln poster. Up-close, it looks like a bunch of war scenes, and from a distance it looks like Lincoln. 12. File Type Association: You can now make Photo Jockey the default viewer for various file types like *.bmp, *.jpg, *.gif. That way when you DBL-CLICK on those file types in the windows' file manager, then Photo Jockey will display the image. 13. Slide Show Play Lists: You can now create Play Lists to control WHICH files and in WHAT ORDER the files from a folder are displayed. You can have many play lists per folder. Play lists can be useful to save disk space so you don't have to make copies of your images to a new folder, just create a play list with those files in question. So, instead of creating folders like "Best Pics" or "Funny Pics", you can have all your images in ONE folder, and then just create various play lists. Bug Fixes: 1. Fixed some minor cosmetics. 2. Fixed PRINTING problems. If you ever saw blocks of area on a printed page that were blank and should have contained portions of an image, then your problem is now solved. It appears that Windows printer drivers don't follow the specs down to the tee :( 3. Fixed problem with NetMeeting for XP. This program resets the monitor when it loads and exits. So, if you load Photo Jockey then start NM, PJ will not be able to function. If you load NM, then load PJ, then EXIT NM, then PJ will not be able to function. This problem is now FIXED. 01/20/05 Version 2.63 Improvements: 1. Better auto-hide menu under all situations. Full screen or normal viewing mode etc... 2. The extensions FILTER (funnel button) now has a "Flip All Checkmarks" button. 3. The THUMBNAILS at the top and the FILES LIST at the right now has an AUTO-POP-UP properties information box as you pass the mouse over each filename. That way you get a quick overview of the properties (resolution, date, time, size) of each file. Optionally, if you have photos from a digital camera, it will tell you shutter speed, F-Stop etc... 4. Now supports ANIMATED GIF files. The animation player also has a speed control slider. If you move the animation player from it's original position on the screen, then you can click on another gif animation file and it will popup a NEW player. That way you can have MANY animations playing all at once. 5. Added a lot of Novice Tips that you can disable later or turn back on if you forget how to use the program. That way if you are a casual user, you can see the tips on what you need to do, and if you are an expert, you can turn the annoying tips off :) 6. Better MultiMonitor Support. 11/10/04 Version 2.62 Improvements: 1. Bug Fixes: 1. Fixed JPGConvert issue: This is the feature that allows you to resize images that you have just drag/dropped. Great for dropping onto email attachment areas. Well, when MOVIE files are also being dropped, it used to give an error upon resizing the movie file, now it's fixed to just skip it. Because you can't resize a movie file like you would a photo. 2. Fixed some minor memory leaks. You probably wouldn't notice them unless you were using the program continually 24/7 for about 30 days :) 10/15/04 Version 2.61 Improvements: 1. Added MORE RAW photo formats. ( These are from high-end digital cameras) 2. Much FASTER RAW thumbnail decoding (sometimes 2-3 times faster) 3. Musch FASTER RAW thumbnail & Full image decoding when images are located on a network drive. (Used to be real slow) 4. Less memory consumption while decoding RAW 8K instead of many MB. 5. The Main Menu is now designed to be AUTO-HIDE. This means that as you move the mouse away from the main menu, it will just go away. Then as you move the mouse back up to where the menu normally is, it will re-appear. 6. There is now a new button on the Files List panel. It looks like a green film strip. Clicking this will start a FULL SCREEN slide show. 7. If you press the DELete key, it will act as though you clicked on the TRASH CAN button in photo jockey. 8. Added a FILTER FILE TYPES setup screen. There is a new button that looks like a Funnel on the files list panel. Click it and you can configure what file types Photo Jockey will display. 9. Added a tiny button above the filenames in the fileslist to control the sort order. You can sort from the main menu as well and the Options window too. Bug Fixes: 1. Fixed REVERT button on the Color Adjustment window so that it's disabled until you click APPLY. 2. Fixed bug: When Photo Jockey is maximized and then closed, the next time you run Photo Jockey, it attempts to keep the SAME screen size, so naturally it loads up and is FULL Screen. BUT, I also had logic that looked to see if it was full screen and if it was, then the title bar and menu bar would be hidden. This makes the user feel lost. So, it's fixed to where the title bar and menu bar will STILL be visible. 3. Fixed bug: If you run a slide show on a folder that has photos and MOVIE files. Then it would play the movie files for a few seconds and then continue on with the next file in the list. NOW it's fixed so that it skips any movie file in the list and goes to the next PHOTO. 10/01/04 Version 2.6 1. Added Smoothing feature in the Sharpening function. 2. MOVIES: Added *.ASF and *.WMV movie files. 3. Color Adjusting window now has 100 levels of UNDO and REDO, only limited by available temp disk space. And now there is a REVERT button too. 4. Added registration code. 5. Added Wall Paper Creation 09/01/04 First release
