TROUBLE SHOOTING FAQ
PHOTOS LOOK UGLY, LIKE PAINT-BY-NUMBER PICTURE
This occurs when you have your video settings set to a color mode that is less than TrueColor (24bit, 32bit) or HighColor (15bit, 16bit). IE: 256 Color mode will look ugly. 16 Color mode will REALLLLLY look ugly.Images appear BLANK or "File Cannot Be Loaded" ERROR MESSAGESOLUTION: Change your video settings color mode to a TrueColor or HighColor setting. TrueColor is the preferred mode.
NOTE: It may be that you have to LOWER your resolution. For example: If your screen resolution is set to 1024x768 it may only have 256 color mode available. Try changing to 800x600 and then you should be able to see TrueColor/HighColor settings available.
If you get a BLANK image when you expect a real image then continue reading the cause and solution."Error in loading photo. Maybe too large or photo corrupted."If you get a "File Cannot Be Loaded" message and you think the file is actually fine and other programs view them fine, then continue reading the cause and solution.
CAUSE:
This occurs with Win95/98 because of the way it handles graphics resources. There are tiny leaks in the system that after awhile make it so that you can't load large images anymore. This is because Windows thinks that you don't have enough resources to load the image.SOLUTION:
Windows NT, 2000 and XP do NOT have this memory leak. And thus you would never see this as a problem.
If you are stuck with Windows 95/98, then you can try exiting as many programs as you can and closing out your system tray programs too. The system tray is located typically in the lower right hand corner of your screen on the taskbar. If closing all programs do NOT seem to solve the problem, then just RE-BOOT and then close all un-needed programs and you should be able to view and print once again. Of course as you continue working with images after awhile, you will see the same problem again and will have to re-boot again. Windows leaks at a slow rate so after re-booting, you should be able to operate for quite some time.
HINT: This should only occur on VERY LARGE images that are larger than around 2000x1500 in dimension.
NOTE: Windows XP can have this problem, but it is extremely rare. RE-Booting solves this and you can run for a very long time without the error occurring again. This is because the Windows leak is much much slower than on Windows 95/98.
This ERROR MESSAGE can occur when you are running Windows 95,98.Windows 2000, and XP do NOT have this problem. The problem is, when your system has been running for awhile, a memory leak occurs in Win95/98. Once this leaks gets large, then Windows "THINKS" that it can't load an image. Then the image will just appear as all WHITE or all BLACK.
SOLUTION: Just re-boot your machine and you should be able to load the images.
HINT: This should only occur on VERY LARGE images that are larger than around 2000x1500 in dimension.
